First Baptist Church was established on February 14, 1826 when ten adults decided to “fellowship us a church in gospel order.” Since that day 54 pastors have stood in our pulpit and witnessed the good times and the difficult times of this lighthouse in the Farmington Community.

Although many transformations have taken place through the years one thing has remained steadfast – We are a Christ-centered, gospel proclaiming Church that seeks to carry out its mission to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you,” Matt 28:19-20. First Baptist Church continues to spread the gospel message of love, peace, hope and eternal life that is only available through the saving grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

First Baptist Church is a growing, vibrant church committed to the absolute authority of the Bible as the Word of God. It is from the Scriptures that God’s people are equipped to know and serve Jesus Christ. We do this through the practice of worship, fellowship, prayer, music and a Christ-like love for others.

Although we are the second oldest Baptist Church in the state of Michigan, we are not anchored in the past. Instead we continue to move forward in this ever-changing culture with the message that is timeless – God is the same yesterday, today and forever!
